Acclaimed visual artist Robert Poulter and the Puppet Working Group (an international group of puppet theatre researchers based at Royal Holloway) present a new model theatre production premiered at the University’s Cultural Olympiad celebration in June 2010. The project is based on English traditional toy theatre, and experiments with cinematic visual images, shadow theatre techniques, original music and innovative manipulation.
Divided into ten scenes, ‘The Rowers’ follow a journey through time and space as humanity propels itself across rivers and seas for the purposes of peace and war, exploration, recreation and sport.
The performance lasts for 25 minutes and is suitable for people of all ages.
Cost: Free, booking required.
